I’ve used many high end writing tools over the years, from Waterman to Montblanc. I love inkt handwriting, but as a lefty the tip can be a challenge. This is the most comfortable pen I’ve used for a long time. Price point is good when you order, but from the UK to Europe I had to pay 2/3 more on taxes to be able to get my pen. Would suggest to include this in the order process for transparancy.

The pen looks great - fit, finish and presentation first class. But, not the smooth writing experience I expected. First nib was scratchy with poor flow. Great customer service and replacement nib sent (albeit wrong size) its improved but not smooth or a joy to write with.

Excellent pen. This is my second Ellington pen and as the first it writes like a dream. Nice pen to hold and very good value for money. Unfortunately I have an injury to my writing hand and it will be sometime before I can use it again.

Pen is great. Now to find an ink to match.

I purchased the Celestial Tide fountain pen following having two others from Ellington.
My first was the Stealth, which I have been using for a little over a year, on an almost daily basis.
The second was the Nautilus, which is used very infrequently. Both are lovely to write with.
The purchase came down to the Stealth being used so much that it needed a rest, and I'm glad I purchased the Celestial Tide.
Just like the other two pens, it looks amazing, feels great in the hand and writes incredibly well, proving once again what great craftsmanship goes into producing these pens - thank you Ellington.
As for the service, I ordered the pen on the Thursday, and it arrived within a couple of days, much quicker than the expected delivery date advertised.
In short, I cannot fault the pens, or the service provided from a great retailer, and will be purchasing more in the future, when required.

God, it's gorgeous. As are the other two pens I have from Ellington. A good weight; a responsive nib; frankly, just a huge pleasure to write with. Although I do wish I'd gone for a medium, not fine, nib.

Celestial Tide Matte Fountain Pen

As always, the balanced weight makes pen easy to hold. The nib flows across stationery without any "drag". Overall, a six-star pen!

It’s okay for the price. Nib is a bit scratchy and the ink flow is slow. It’s also unbalanced. With the cap on on when writing its top heavy. It’s better without the cap but I don’t like having to keep track of a cap.

I am newly into fountain pens and this is one of my most expensive.

I love tools that just make you WANT to use them. This pen makes me want to write, doodle, fidget, and just hold it.

Amazing pen!

This was my second Ellington pen so I knew all was not quite right with it. My first one writes beautifully and did so from the off. This one was scratchy and needed a lot of pressure to produce a patchy flow of ink. When I reported this, I was given some ideas on how to correct the problem and I followed instructions to wash the nib, change the ink source etc, but all to no effect… Ellington responded and replaced the nib, eureka! A lovely balanced pen which writes smoothly every time.

Just once, I'd like to find fault with an Ellington fountain pen, but I can't. This is another quality writing pen. In this case, the Celestial Tide Matte looks a lot like The Stealth. The difference is the color is an attempt to appear less black than The Stealth, and to give it the matte finish. The bottom line is, I write with my fountain pens, and this one writes as well as all my other Ellington pens.

We received two pens, one purple the other was the celestial tide (green-blue). Both very nice with the e tra fine nib. The extra fine nibs that - extra fine. I use it for sketching and it seems to work very well. It is very slightly flexible if you apply some pressure, but I won't need that. Also seems very wet, flows along of ink, but it could be the ink ( Platinum Carbon) and paper I was using.

Great pen, delivers what it promises - comfortable grip, smooth ink flow, and of course it is elegant looking! The reason I gave it 9.5 out of 10 is because a bit of the matte paint has come away on the barrel and while this does not affect the performance of the pen, it is an eye-sore.

I found the Celestial Tide Matte Fountain Pen from Ellington Pens from an Instagram ad and decided to take a chance on a company I wasn't familiar with. This pen is easily my new favorite to write with! Excellent quality, perfect weight and balance in my hand, and a Fine nib that writes effortlessly. It is easily worth the price you pay, and at the time I purchased, they included another variety of fountain pen for free making this an excellent value!
